Frontier Ranch fall 2023 Update

Friends -

October marks two full years of hibernation and limited operations here at Frontier Ranch. As we look towards the future we are filled with joy and are confident that there will once again be streams of teenagers filling these hills in the years to come. We have been diligently working towards a campaign, fundraising and for the completion of work as quickly as funding and time allows.

The summer of 2023 was a good one, both for Young Life’s global ministries and for Young Life camping. Ministry is growing nationwide, with an increase in volunteer leaders and the number of teenagers reached weekly. In turn, we have seen modest growth in summer camper numbers, which is in line with the future plans for Frontier Ranch.

We are continuing to focus on preliminary infrastructure projects, completing the feasibility assessments and responding to feedback. Feasibility interviews and reports were completed early in 2023. Current planning revolves around infrastructure design estimates, restructuring and digging deep into state requirements for wastewater. We have learned that without major overhauls of several infrastructure systems we will not be able to operate camp.

The infrastructure work required dovetails well with the Lord’s timing and growth in camping. Another piece of good news is that with the modest growth in camper numbers, we remain able to accommodate the summer camping need at our existing camps across the country. The Lord’s timing is better than ours and we are constantly amazed at how He continues to write the story of Frontier.

We are moving forward with a formal campaign and the formation of an Executive Campaign Committee in the months to come. Although a formal campaign has not begun, we continue to tell the story of Frontier and invite anyone interested into it with us. There is a target date of Spring 2024 to have committee members invited and the formal campaign kicked off. Creation of draft campaign materials based on feedback from the feasibility study is currently underway.

While we are focused on the creation of our campaign, we continue to host smaller groups to this blessed place. There are two lodges available year-round for your next family reunion, staff overnight, church small group, etc.. In addition to coming to enjoy God’s creation, we are hosting work trips where folks of all generations can come serve to upkeep this beautiful place. If you are interested in coming to stay, play or work, we would love to hear from you!

Check out the opportunities to come, serve, work and complete a project!
