High School Volunteers

Known as Work Crew

This is the volunteer experience for those in high school. To be eligible you must have completed one year of high school and complete your local area's work crew training course. The work crew serve the campers in a variety of ways such as dining hall servers, grounds crew, dishwashing, and housekeepers. The application process begins with a recommendation from your local area director.
For more information, talk to your local Young Life leader (find a Young Life Club near you).

It's not often in life that we get to evaluate our purpose, map out our future, and reflect on our past. As a volunteer on work crew at a Young Life camp, you'll have the chance to grow personally and spiritually - you'll be surrounded by other people like yourself who really want their life to count for something. We think you'll come away from your experiences at camp better equipped to make choices about your future plans, education, and career.
You'll also find yourself refreshed by the hundreds of kids you've impacted during the summer - kids you've helped have the best week of their lives at a Young Life camp.
While volunteering on work crew, you'll meet people from all over the country and even from around the world. At the end of the month-long assignment, many of these people will be considered your lifelong friends. You'll have a chance to try new things and to spend a month at one of the most beautiful places on earth. You'll also be challenged to take your faith to a new level and learn how to serve like Jesus did thousands of years ago.
Yes, it will be hard work, but there's a big payoff - changed lives - yours and the kids you influence.

Sending Mail to Camp:

A special thing about camp is the opportunity to send and receive snail mail! We love when friends or family send our volunteers goodies in the mail but please keep in mind that it can take 2-3 days longer than estimated to arrive at campIf items are being shipped to the post office, please add 2-3 days for your item to actually arrive at camp. Also, because there is so much mail coming into town and up to camp, please ensure that ALL mail is addressed as follows:

Name - Work Crew Session #

PO Box 2025

22150 CR 322

Buena Vista, CO 81211

Some important tips: if the company says they don't deliver to a PO Box, please add #2025 to the top line (some mail still gets routed through the local Post Office). Also, UPS/FedEx may say that the above address cannot be found - ask them to override the system and leave it as listed (our local drivers know how to find us!).

If mail arrives after the recipient has left camp, it will be returned to sender.
