To provide the best possible care for kids, we need nurses to help us meet the medical needs of the campers and summer volunteers at camp.
Summer-long nurses live on the property, are part of the intern program
, and are paid. We also need week-long volunteer nurses that come and stay on property for a week at a time - the volunteer nurse will work closely with our weekly camp doctor as well as our Nurse and EMT that are part of the intern program.
Nurses at Frontier Ranch play a vital role in our summer camping ministry. Our nurses are committed to Christ first and foremost. They also have the ability to lead others, serve with excellence, and desire to be challenged and grow in their relationship with Christ.
Nurses will strive to serve Christ, kids and each other. They will also have the opportunity to grow as leaders in ministry, develop Christ-like relationships, and enjoy the fun and beauty of Frontier Ranch.
What will I do?
The week will be busy - more like a mission trip than a vacation! But we’ll do our best to get you relaxing by the pool.
Services of the nurse take the nature of a screening function. The nurse assists the other camp personnel in deciding the course of action in emergency situations including deciding which patients need to be transferred to the local medical facility.
The nurse must also adequately document the medical record to reflect the care that has been given.
At no time should any nurse practice medicine that falls outside of his or her medical license and level of experience and training.
How do I sign up?
Sending Mail to Camp
A special thing about camp is the opportunity to send and receive snail mail! We love when friends or family send our volunteers goodies in the mail but please keep in mind that it can take 2-3 days longer than estimated to arrive at camp! Also, because there is so much mail coming into town and up to camp, please ensure that ALL mail is addressed as follows:
Name - Week # Nurse
PO Box 2025
22150 CR 322
Buena Vista, CO 81211
Some important tips: if the company says they don't deliver to a PO Box, please add #2025 to the top line (some mail still gets routed through the local Post Office). Also, UPS/FedEx may say that the above address cannot be found - ask them to override the system and leave it as listed (our local drivers know how to find us!).
If mail arrives after the recipient has left camp, it will be returned to sender.
